Engineers Institution Bangladesh will observe the 78th anniversary “Engineers Day” with due dignity.

On the occasion of celebrating the 67th anniversary of this institution, which is dear to the engineers, the Chittagong Engineers Institution Bangladesh organized a press conference at the Chittagong Center.
Engineer Monzare Khorshed Alam read a written statement to the journalists in the seminar room of the institution on Wednesday, May 06, under the chairmanship of Engineer Monzare Khorshed Alam, Chairman of IEB Chittagong Center and moderated by Engineer Khan Md Aminur Rahman, Honorary Editor.
At the beginning of the speech, he remembered with deep respect the students and youths of this country who were martyred in July mass reception.
He said, at various times, engineers are being severely oppressed and persecuted while working under an authoritarian government. Engineering professions are variously exposed to party’s dirty politics. The state power and the party’s professional power become one party’s appointment promotion and election nomination trade in various institutions. The accomplices of fascist forces are obstructing the promotion and posting of thousands of qualified, talented, highly educated and visionary engineers.
Journalists play a unique role as the conscience of the country in the overall welfare of the society with positive changes in the country and society. On the other hand, the role of engineers in the overall development of the country is also undeniable. I feel that the bond and relationship of courteous harmony between us as professionals needs to be deepened and strengthened.
In the written statement, taking effective steps to resolve the electricity and energy crisis in Bangladesh, taking effective steps to address existing problems in the shipping sector, Chittagong Wasa’s river-based water treatment project instead of underground water, reclamation digging of canals and rainwater conservation are demanded. Moreover, identification of defects in infrastructure construction, long-term planning and taking specific steps, paying special attention to the construction of bridges, culverts and tunnels, should be done for the development of Bangladesh tourism industry.Guru demanded to ensure the participation of IEB members in various important state functions including taking effective steps to develop light medium and heavy industries.
Moreover, training of engineers, promotion, changing the current job structure of teachers, foundation of BCS cadre, formulation of employment rules for private engineers, appointment of engineers as project directors in various projects, elimination of professional discrimination, providing special services to foreign engineers and appointment of talented domestic engineers.
